STATIC SPITFIRE GROUND DISPLAYS
THE SPITFIRE DISPLAY TEAM
Our team of volunteers portray life in the Royal Air Force for both Aircrew and Groundcrew during those desperate days of World War Two. Our knowledgeable enthusiasts have lovingly restored “Lucy” our Spitfire Mark IX replica to a very high level of detail. “Lucy” alongside our volunteers, now plays a leading role in educating the Public on the realities of fighting on the ground and in the air during WW2.
Preservation and Education is at the heart of all we do. As a volunteer organisation we are constantly evolving our living history display to incorporate additional wartime aircraft and airfield support vehicles and equipment. By returning these rare exhibits to operational condition, we hope to expand the educational value of our static displays for future generations to enjoy.

DISPLAY EVENTS
Our static displays with supporting RAF Groundcrew, dressed in period uniform may be the unique addition that your event has been looking for.
Our display enables your visitors a unique opportunity to sit in the cockpit of these iconic Spitfire aircraft and have their photographs taken, using their own camera equipment for a small donation towards our fundraising projects. Over the past Ten years, our centrepiece Mark IX, affectionately known as “Our Lucy” has had extensive refurbishment work with much of the cockpit re-equipped with its original instruments and controls. To add to this unique experience additional sound and light features have been added to give the would-be Pilot a real feel for life as a World War Two Fighter Pilot.
Our expert team of volunteers will give fact-filled talks during your event, helping bring to life the reality of dog fighting tactics during WW2. In addition to the aircraft, we are also able to provide in support of the Spitfire, original ground support equipment displays, including the UK’s last roadworthy Bedford QL RAF Fuel Bowser which saw active service with Bomber Command from 1944.
So if you are planning a 1940’s era show, or looking for a centrepiece for your corporate event then get in touch. We are always looking for new recruits and welcome the opportunity to team up with other WW2 RAF re-enactment groups, either at Hangar 42 or at events across the Country.
Please use the event enquiry form to receive a quote for an appearance.
